M.J. Buckman (Em) grew up in the south east of England. She moved to London in the 1980s to study and party, before getting married and bringing up two sons, whilst working in the not-for-profit sector. Em always wanted to become an author outside of the writing she did at work, but only found the time and headspace after moving to the south coast to retire.
Em is the author of an award-wining non-fiction book about LGBT+ history and culture and mental health, and a novel which combines contemporary and historical fiction. She also writes a regular blog.
Em’s books aim to give a voice to people from all walks of life and from different times and places, and contain themes of accepting ourselves and others, while her blogs also include articles on mental health and becoming a published author later in life.
Em lives with her unbelievably tolerant husband, her anxious as anything little dog and her cool as anything big cat.
